License Agreement and Consent to Publish

This License Agreement and Consent to Publish applies to manuscripts accepted for publication by the International Journal of Nutrology (IJN) on or after August 2026. It must be read together with the journal's Licenses, Copyright and Permissions Policy.

This agreement does not transfer copyright exclusively to the journal or publisher. The authors retain copyright and grant the rights necessary for IJN to publish and preserve the article and to make it openly available under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License.

1. Copyright ownership

The authors retain copyright in the manuscript and in the published article, subject to any rights held by an employer, institution, government, funder, or other disclosed copyright holder. The actual copyright holder or holders and the year of publication must be identified in the Version of Record.

2. License granted to ABRAN and IJN

If the manuscript is accepted, the authors grant the Brazilian Association of Nutrology (ABRAN), as the owner and publisher of IJN, a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, and continuing license to:

  • publish the article as the Version of Record in IJN;
  • reproduce, distribute, communicate, display, index, archive, and preserve the article in print, electronic, and other formats;
  • register and distribute the article's DOI and bibliographic metadata;
  • make copyediting, typesetting, accessibility, formatting, and metadata corrections that do not alter the scholarly meaning of the work; and
  • identify IJN as the original place of publication.

The license granted to ABRAN and IJN is non-exclusive. The authors may reuse and distribute their work in accordance with the terms stated below.

3. Creative Commons license

The authors authorize IJN to publish the Version of Record under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0).

Under CC BY 4.0, any user may copy, redistribute, adapt, transform, and build upon the article for commercial or non-commercial purposes, provided that appropriate credit is given, a link to the license is supplied, and any changes are indicated. Reusers must not imply endorsement by the authors, IJN, or ABRAN and must not impose additional restrictions that prevent uses permitted by the license.

4. Rights retained by the authors

The authors may, without requesting additional permission from IJN or ABRAN:

  • share the submitted manuscript, accepted manuscript, and Version of Record;
  • deposit these versions in institutional, subject, funder, or general-purpose repositories without an embargo;
  • use the article in teaching, presentations, theses, dissertations, books, and subsequent works;
  • translate or adapt the article;
  • distribute the article to colleagues and through academic or professional networks; and
  • reuse figures, tables, data, and other original material created by the authors.

The original article must be properly cited, the DOI or Version of Record link should be provided, and changes must be identified.

5. Author declarations and warranties

By accepting and signing this agreement, the corresponding author confirms, on behalf of all authors, that:

  • all listed authors meet the journal's authorship criteria and have approved the manuscript, the author list, and the submission;
  • the corresponding author is authorized to communicate with IJN and execute this agreement on behalf of all authors;
  • the work is original, except for material properly attributed and used with permission where required;
  • the manuscript is not simultaneously under consideration by another journal;
  • the manuscript does not unlawfully infringe copyright, privacy, confidentiality, contractual, proprietary, or other third-party rights;
  • all required permissions for third-party material have been obtained and can be provided to IJN on request;
  • all required ethical approvals, informed consent, consent for publication, study registrations, funding statements, competing-interest declarations, and artificial-intelligence disclosures have been provided;
  • the data and statements in the manuscript are accurate to the best of the authors' knowledge and have not been fabricated, falsified, or inappropriately manipulated; and
  • the references and acknowledgments appropriately credit the work and contributions of others.

6. Third-party material

The CC BY 4.0 license applies only to material for which the authors or publisher have authority to grant the license. Any third-party material excluded from the article's Creative Commons license must be identified by an appropriate credit line or notice. The authors are responsible for obtaining and documenting any permission required for publication and reuse.

7. Employer, institutional, or government ownership

If copyright is held by an employer, institution, government, or another party, that ownership must be disclosed below. An authorized representative of the copyright holder must approve the publication and licensing terms when required.

8. Acceptance, corrections, and publication

This agreement becomes effective only if the manuscript is accepted for publication. If the manuscript is rejected or withdrawn before publication in accordance with journal policy, the publication license granted by this agreement does not take effect.

IJN may perform copyediting, typesetting, formatting, accessibility, and metadata corrections. Changes that materially affect the scholarly content, interpretation, or conclusions require author review or authorization. The corresponding author is responsible for reviewing proofs within the deadline communicated by the journal.
