Purpose: This page provides a neutral structure for the anonymous main manuscript submitted to the International Journal of Nutrology (IJN). It is a preparation guide and must not be submitted as a completed article.

The IJN uses double-blind peer review. Upload the anonymous manuscript as an editable file, separately from the title page. Do not include author names, affiliations, e-mail addresses, ORCID identifiers, acknowledgments, institutional identifiers, self-identifying statements, or document metadata that may reveal authorship.

Before submission: anonymity checklist

• Remove all author names, affiliations, addresses, e-mail addresses, telephone numbers, ORCID identifiers, biographies, signatures, and author initials used as identifiers.
• Remove acknowledgments and the names of laboratories, universities, hospitals, clinics, research groups, ethics committees, sponsors, repositories, or institutions when they could identify the authors.
• Write self-citations in the third person and cite them normally. Do not replace references with “author” and do not use expressions such as “in our previous study” when they reveal identity.
• Check tables, figures, captions, supplementary files, headers, footers, tracked changes, comments, and hyperlinks for identifying information.
• Remove personal and institutional metadata from the editable file and any PDF before uploading. Check the document properties, author field, comments, and revision history.
• Use a neutral filename that does not contain an author surname, institution, city, research group, or protocol name.
• Submit complete author information in a separate title page.

How to blind necessary declarations

Ethics, consent, funding, registration, and data-availability information must not be omitted. If the full statement would identify the authors or institution, retain the substantive information and temporarily replace only the identifying element with the phrase [details withheld for double-blind review]. Provide the complete information on the separate title page or to the Editorial Office. The full statement must be restored in the accepted manuscript before publication.

Example: “This study received prior approval from an institutional research ethics committee [committee name and approval number withheld for double-blind review]. Written informed consent was obtained from all participants.”

[Describe the setting, eligibility criteria, recruitment or selection, dates, and relevant characteristics. Blind the institution only when necessary.]

Declarations for anonymous review

Ethical approval

[Declare any use of generative artificial intelligence or AI-assisted technology in manuscript preparation, analysis, images, or other parts of the work. Identify the tool, purpose, and human verification. If none was used, state this clearly.]

Author contributions

[To preserve anonymity, use neutral labels such as “Author 1,” “Author 2,” and “Author 3,” or state: “The complete CRediT contribution statement is provided on the separate title page.”]

Acknowledgments

[Remove acknowledgments from the anonymous file when they identify people or institutions. Use: “Acknowledgments are provided on the separate title page and withheld here for double-blind review.”]

References

[List references in Vancouver style and number them in order of first citation. Preserve legitimate self-citations and write about previous work in the third person.]

Tables

[Insert tables or table callouts as required by the IJN instructions. Ensure that titles, footnotes, filenames, and embedded properties contain no identifying information.]

Figure legends

[List each figure legend. Submit figure files separately and check them for identifying labels or metadata.]

Supplementary material

[List supplementary files and applicable reporting checklists. All files sent to reviewers must also be anonymized.]
